Premier Petfoods Aust Pty Ltd has grown significantly in recent years and become one of Australia's leading privately owned pet food manufacturers.
We have achieved this growth by having a clear vision, which is to become Australasia's most respected and reliable pet food manufacturer. We aim to achieve this through the delivery of quality, innovation and competitive product whilst listening to our customers and their needs.
The business has two divisions in which it operates; one channel manages all The Great Australian Petfood Co. brands, whilst the other focuses on private label. These divisions service both domestic and export markets.
History
Premier Petfoods Aust Pty Ltd is a division of Premier Stockfeeds (Aust) Pty Ltd, a privately owned Australian company specialising in pet food.
Premier Stockfeeds (Aust) Pty Ltd merged two previous acquisitions, Meat Bits Australia Pty Ltd and The Great Aussie Petfood Company to form Premier Petfoods Aust Pty Ltd in 2002.
Meat Bits Australia Pty Ltd first started producing dry dog food in 1954 at Moorabbin, Victoria before moving the operation to St Peters in Sydney. It is from this location that they won the contract to supply food to the huskies based in Antarctica. This contract was held until 1993 when the dogs were removed from the base due to the introduction of an Environmental Protection Treaty.
Initially all the pet food produced by Meat Bits Australia Pty Ltd was pelletised but with changes in technology came the extrusion process. Today we can offer both these processes to meet the demands of our customers.
For 20+ years Premier Stockfeeds (Aust) Pty Ltd manufactured feeds for equine, poultry, aquatic and pet markets. Premier Petfoods Aust Pty Ltd is now solely committed to the development and production of dog and cat food.
Chief Nutritionist Dr. Cameron Sell B.Sc (Hons), PhD (U.W.S.) and partner/owner Warwick Sell B.Sc. M.Sc. (U.N.S.W.) share over 50 years experience in the pet food industry. Their knowledge has seen us venture into boutique markets within the pet sector such as;
